Richmond RCMP has once again partnered with loss prevention officers, Metro Vancouver Transit Police, and a number of retailers from the downtown core of Richmond. This latest Boost ‘n Bust project from September 14, 2023 was extremely successful by the participants.

With each year, these collaborative retail theft operations, have proven increasingly successful and
very insightful. This year, 18 arrests were made in Richmond with the most commonly recovered
items being clothing, footwear, cosmetics, electronics, and personal hygiene products. Retail theft is
not a victimless crime and costs businesses across Canada, millions of dollars in property losses and
revenue.

We continue to see the Skytrain as a conduit for the movement of suspects and goods between
municipalities. We are pleased that Metro Vancouver Transit Police has been an excellent partner
agency not only for our Detachment, but for other law enforcement partner agencies as well.

- Inspector Michael Cohee, Operations Support Officer, Richmond RCMP.
