BC RCMP Serious Crime Unit investigating fatal shooting

On April 16th, 2023, at 2:00 a.m., frontline officers with the Grand Forks RCMP responded to a report of a man being shot inside a rural residence on Granby Road.

Upon arrival, police and BC Ambulance Service immediately began life-saving measures on a 33-year-old adult man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The man succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.

A 43-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene, and has subsequently been released.

Both parties are known to each other, and there is no risk to the public.

The investigation is currently underway by the BC RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit.
