File # 2023-2857

On May 24, 2023, just after 11:00 a.m., police received a report of an accident on Highway 99 in the northbound lanes at Furry Creek, involving a tractor-trailer dump truck. The truck had gone off road into a ditch and landed on its side, and passers by had stopped to help get the driver from inside as first responders arrived.

Fire Rescue, BC Ambulance, Miller Capilano, and the local tow company also responded. The response required Highway 99 northbound closure for about 30 minutes.

BC Ambulance took the driver to hospital with unknown injuries, and she has since been released.

Investigators continue following up with this matter, says Corporal Angela Kermer, Sea to Sky RCMP. Further investigation will help determine what happened. We’re thankful to passers by who assisted and are relieved the driver’s injuries were not substantial.
