Richmond RCMP arrest man allegedly threatening public with weapon

On December 1 at approximately 4:10 PM, Richmond RCMP officers responded to multiple reports of a man carrying a knife at the 5400 block of No. 3 rd. The individual was reportedly seen exiting a train, falling down an escalator, and dropping what appeared to be a firearm and was later determined to be an airsoft pistol. Witnesses also reported the man was chasing after a woman.

Officers arrived on the scene within minutes of being dispatched. After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody without incident, and a weapon was seized. No injuries were reported among civilians or officers. The suspect was arrested for assault with a weapon, and the investigation is ongoing.
