Multiple search warrants executed by Richmond RCMP for ongoing fraud investigation

On December 19, 2020, Richmond Economic Crime Unit executed search warrants to three locations associated to a multi-jurisdictional crime group committing frauds throughout the Province of British Columbia.
With the assistance of the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team, Richmond RCMP Strike Force and Richmond RCMP Property Crime Unit, the search warrants for one property in Vancouver and two in Richmond were executed safely, also resulting in the temporary closure of a section of Cambie Rd in the middle of Saturday afternoon to facilitate the operation.
As a result of the search warrant executions, a stolen vehicle and two stolen scooters were recovered, as well as items associated to the production of fraudulent identification cards and credit cards. The investigation also netted the arrests of two people on outstanding warrants, and three people on fraud charges. Notably, amongst the suspected stolen property recovered were 2 4-foot-tall

As a result of the efforts of the Richmond Economic Crime Unit, along with the support of other Richmond RCMP investigative units, we have disrupted a significant fraud and property crime ring operating in the city of Richmond.
