Richmond RCMP want to remind drivers that roadblocks are continuing to operate throughout the month of December. As part of this initiative Richmond RCMP Road Safety Unit has partnered with Richmond RCMP frontline officers as well as officers from the Metro Vancouver Transit Police.

Unfortunately, despite everything that’s happening in the world around us, we are still seeing people driving without any regard for the safety and wellbeing of themselves or other motorists says Corporal Peter Somerville, NCO in-charge of Richmond RCMP Road Safety.

During one three-hour operation, officers wrote 34 violation tickets and impounded/towed four vehicles. Some of the offences included driving while prohibited, a 90 day IRP and two suspensions under Section 215 of the Motor Vehicle Act.

People need to get the message, says Cpl. Somerville, We are out there and committed to keeping our roadways safe. If you aren’t going to follow the law then you may find your car being towed or end up arrested and in the back seat of our police car.

Let’s work together to keep our roads safe and make sure everyone gets home.
