Man dies after falling down stairs in Richmond on January 30th.

At approximately 9 pm on Saturday January 30th, 2021, a 50 year-old man from Maple Ridge was transported to hospital by Emergency Health Services after falling down a flight of stairs in the 11700-block of River Road in Richmond. The victim suffered serious injuries in the fall, and, on February 3rd, he succumbed to his injuries.

Richmond RCMP was not aware of the incident until February 5th when the BC Coroners Service requested clarification on the circumstances.

Members of the Richmond RCMP Serious Crime Unit immediately began investigating.

While the investigation is still ongoing, evidence obtained so far suggests this was indeed an accidental fall. At this time, police do not suspect foul play.
