Richmond RCMP are pleased to be hosting the 8th annual Richmond RCMP Toy Drive tomorrow in support of the Richmond Christmas Fund, another program of Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives. Richmond RCMP Community Engagement Team (CET) spearheads the Toy drive.
This year will once again feature a dunk tank where Richmond RCMP Officer-in-Charge, Chief Superintendent (C/Supt) Dave Chauhan, will take the plunge, along with other community members. All who have done so to raise significant funds in support of the Richmond Christmas Fund. The dunk tank will take place between 10:00 and 10:30 am.
Being plunged into cold water on an equally cold day in November is not something everyone would be willing to do,
says Inspector Michael Cohee, Officer-in-charge of Operations Support, This demonstrates how committed Dave is to the community of Richmond and the depth of his support for the Toy Drive.
Our officers from the Community Engagement Unit have dedicated countless hours to this event over the past 8 years. The driving force of their dedication is the children and families in need in our community but the spirit that keeps them going is the generous support of the community,
says C/Supt. Chauhan, This is all about community and in Richmond we are privileged to have great community support. Regardless of the size of the donation, we want to thank everyone from our community who continue to make the Toy Drive such a success.
Thanks to the community’s generosity, last year’s Richmond RCMP Toy Drive raised $ 22,400.00 in cash and 1.5 tons of toys. That was a significant increase from the community and Richmond RCMP are striving to exceed that this year but cannot do it without your support.
The Richmond RCMP Toy Drive will take place November 19, 2022 in the parking lot of Lansdowne Centre located at 5300 No 3 Rd between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm. Find us in the parking lot next to the Canada Line.
Those wishing to make donations can also do so until November 30th by visiting any of these toy drop locations:
- All Richmond Public Libraries
- The Hamilton Community Centre, 5140 Smith Drive
- The Richmond RCMP Main Detachment, 11411 No 5 Road
Please come out and help us stuff the police car with a new, unwrapped toy or make a minimum $ 10.00 donation and receive a bag of mini-donuts or personal cartoon drawing in return. There will also be coffee from McDonald’s and gummy-filled gift bags courtesy of Herbaland.
