Fruitvale mother dies from suspected overdose

On Friday, July 21, 2023, at 8:45 a.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to the sudden death of a 35-year-old Fruitvale woman inside a residence in the 2000 block of Highway 3B, in Fruitvale, BC. The woman was discovered by a family member who immediately reported the incident to 911. BC EHS attended the scene and attempted to revive the woman without success.
The officer seized alleged drug use paraphernalia and a substance believed to be Fentanyl from the scene of the incident. The officer conducted a presumptive field test of the substance that indicated the presence of Fentanyl. Foul play is not suspected at this time. The incident has been referred to the BC Coroner Service.
This is a tragic incident for our whole community. Our heartfelt condolences to the family members affected by this tragic incident. The woman left behind one small child, and much sadness. Trail RCMP encourages anyone struggling to reach out for help, and know that you are not alone. Together we can reduce the stigma and save lives.

Yoga practitioner shows off chakras in public

On Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 10:54 a.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to report of a naked 33-year-old Quesnel woman practicing yoga in the 800 block of Victoria Street, in Trail, BC. Officers located the woman who agreed to put her clothes back on, and move on from the location.
She was wearing a baseball hat, and that is highly recommended to help avoid heat stroke in these hot temperatures.

Lost hiker found by Trail RCMP members

On Friday, July 21, 2023, at 12:52 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers received a report from 24-year-old Trail woman that she and her dog were lost, stranded, and suffering from the summer heat, and lack of water, on a hiking trail located behind the hospital, in Trail, BC. The woman was able to send her location via cell phone to the officers. The officers were able to quickly locate her and her dog about one kilometre down a trail, and escorted them back to safety. The group was met by another officer who had brought water for everyone.
The woman was in good spirits and did not require medication attention.
Please be mindful that heat stroke is a real concern during these hot summer days. Make sure you stand hydrated and covered up if you are in the heat. We appreciate the woman reaching out before her situation became too dire. It is better to alert authorities and get help than to leave it too late.

Officer’s investigation solves break-in to a vehicle parked in downtown Trail

On Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 4:50 a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer was conducting a routine patrol in a marked vehicle when he discovered a parked vehicle with recently broken window in downtown Trail, BC. The officer located and spoke to a 33-year-old Trail man nearby. The officer suspected the man may have been the culprit.
The officer located and seized video surveillance footage of the area that the crime occurred, and witnessed the man allegedly breaking into this vehicle and stealing items. The officer located and arrested the man for Theft under $5000 contrary to Section 334 of the Criminal Code and Mischief under $5000 contrary to Section 430 of the Criminal Code. The man also had outstanding unendorsed warrants for his arrest for theft and mischief committed in Kelowna, BC.
The 33-year-old Trail man is currently being held in custody to make an appearance before a judge.
Trail RCMP continues pro-active patrols in the area to help deter, prevent, and solve crime.

Gas leak triggers emergency response to West Trail neighbourhood

On Sunday, July 23, 2023, at 8:20 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers and Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue responded to gas leak from a gas line located on a residential property in the 1800 block of Mountain Street, in Trail, BC. The homeowner had allegedly struck a gas line while using an excavator to dig a hole on his property.
KBRFR managed to stop the leak while Trail RCMP officers ensured the neighbours were notified and gathered at a safe distance away from the residence until the crisis was averted.
Please contact your local utility company before you dig to determine the location of gas lines.
