Impaired driver:

During the morning of July 20th, 2023, the Kitimat RCMP received a report from a business located in the Industrial area of Kitimat BC, that an employee had driven themselves to work and was possibly impaired. The investigating officers were able to confirm that the employee had in fact consumed alcohol before driving, after samples of their breath were provided. The driver was given a 3-day immediate roadside driving prohibition. (2023-2693)

90-day IRP:

While conducting patrols in the 100 block of Nechako Court in Kitimat, BC, during the early hours of July 21st, 2023, a Kitimat RCMP officer initiated a traffic stop. The stop resulted in the driver being investigated for impaired operation of a motor vehicle. The driver provided a sample of their breath which resulted in them receiving a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and their vehicle being impounded for 30 days. (2023-2704)

Found cellphone:

A Samsung Cellphone was turned over to a Kitimat RCMP officer after being found on July 21st, 2023. The phone had been located earlier in the day in a parking lot on Nightingale St, Kitimat BC. The owner of the phone has not been located. If you are missing a phone, and am able to identify it, please contact the Kitimat RCMP at 250-632-7111 and cite file number 2023-2709.

Prohibited driver:

A vehicle driving on the Kitamaat Village road that had damage, caught the attention of a Kitimat RCMP officer that was patrolling on July 21st, 2023. A traffic stop was initiated. During the stop, it was found that the driver was required to be served a 4-month driving prohibition. The driving prohibition and a notice and order to have the vehicle repaired was served. Highway 37 speeding:

A Kitimat RCMP officer and a BC Highway Patrol officer worked together and conducted speed enforcement along Highway 37, North of Kitimat during the evening of July 22nd, 2023. The 2-hour time period resulted in 14 speeding tickets, one excessive speed ticket and one vehicle being impounded for 7 days. (2023-2729)

90-day IRP:

While a Kitimat RCMP officer was writing up a report in the parking lot of Mountain view Square, during the early morning hours of July 23rd, 2023, a vehicle drove by in a manner that caught the officer’s attention. A traffic stop was initiated and, after an investigation, it was determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol. This resulted in the driver being issued a 90-day immediate driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. (2023-2727)

Fire ban warnings:

While doing proactive patrols in residential neighborhoods around Kitimat BC, on July 24th, 2023, a Kitimat RCMP officer located two residents that were having back yard fires, in fire pits. As the fire ban was still in effect, the residents were advised they needed to put the fires out for face fines. The Kitimat RCMP would like to remind residents that the fire ban is still in effect, even though there has been a little rain the past few days. If you are found with a fire, you could face a violation ticket worth up to $1150. (2023-2752, 2023-2753)
